K-2 base camp Trek
K-2 base camp is the most famous trek in Karakoram. This trek has been described on the best trek in the world, not only for its highest mountains, but also spectacular views of some of best vertical lofty peaks in the world. Starting the trek from the Askole village, we ill walk along the Baltoro glacier to reach Concordia. This crossroads is now the meeting place of mountaineers and trekkers from all over the world brought together by shared interest and ideals and common goals. At Concordia three component glaciers meet, forming the proscenium for the most spectacular natural theatre in the world. Within a radius of 24 kms, stand ten of world’s thirty highest peaks, including, K-2 (8611m), Gasherbrum-I (8068m), Broad Peak (8047m), Gasherbrum-II (8035m), and many others. Trekking from Askole to K-2 base camp, you can enjoy the spectacular views of Great Trango Towers, Uli Biaho Towers, Muztagh towers, Masherbrum, Baltoro cathedrals and numerous other peaks. The best trekking season is from
15th of May to Mid of October each year.
DAY-01-ARRIVAL: Arrival Islamabad airport and transfer to hotel. After short rest in hotel we will visit Ministry of Tourism and Alpine Club of Pakistan for Trekking Permit and briefing (Welcome Meeting). Overnight stay in hotel. (B).
DAY-02-CHILAS: Drive to Chilas in air-conditioned van/coach/bus over Karakoram highways, along the River Indus. During journey we will make many stops for, Lunch, Tea, and photography of stunning mountain scenery. On arrival Chilas transfer to a good tourist class hotel for over night (B/L/D).
DAY-03-SKARDU: After breakfast in Chilas hotel, we will start our journey towards, Skardu, along the narrow gorge of river Indus. The Shahrah-e-Skardu is one of the most dramatic roads in the world. Following the narrow, dark, bleak and stupendously high ravine of the River Indus, from miles after mile. Never a blade of grass relieves the monotony of the hostile rock. Only the Jade green river, tumbling and foaming in stretches of white water, relieves the gray brown, sere, and unrelenting walls of boulders strewn rock, scree, and cliffs. We will make many stops for lunch, tea and view the stunning scenery of mountains. On reaching Skardu, transfer to a good tourist class hotel for overnight. (B/L/D).
DAY-04-SKARDU: Free day at Skardu for sight seeing of Skardu town. Skardu is the capital city of Baltistan, heartland of greatest assembly of mountains that stand on this earth. Shifting sand dunes 7000 feet above sea level from a pure desert beneath Skardu’s encircling snowcapped sentinel peaks, an almost perfect replica of Africa’s Sahara. One can visit the ancient fort of Kharpocho, lake satpara and Kachura. (B/L/D).
DAY-05-ASKOLE: Jeep drive to Askole village, the last human settlement before walk up to Baltoro Glacier to reach Concordia. The Askole village is the Pakistan highest and most remote village, famous for its gateway to Major Mountaineering Expedition and Trekking Expeditions in Pakistan. On arrival in Askole, overnight stay in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-06-KOROFONG: After breakfast we will start our trekking. The trek beyond Askole enters the area that described as "the greatest museum of shapes and forms". The trek crosses erratically over the terminal moraine of the BIAFO GLACIER where it meets the Braldu valley. About 8 km after Askole the trek crosses the tounge of the BIAFO GLACIER, which look likes waves of ice and "gives the impression of a great storm-tossed sea, suddenly immobilized." Another 4 km we reach Korofong camping ground. O/n tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-07-JHOLA: trek to Jhola, o/n in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-08-PAIYU: Trek to Paiyu, o/n in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-09-FREE DAY IN PAIYU: Day free to explore the surrounding area of Paiyu, O/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-10-KHUBURSEY/URDUKAS: Trek to Khubursay/Urdukas, o/n in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-11-GORO: Trek to Goro, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-12-CONCORDIA: Trek to Concordia, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-13-K2 BASE CAMP: Trek to K-2 base camp, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-14-CONCORDIA: Trek back to Concordia, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-15-GORO: Trek back to Goro, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-16-URDUKAS: Trek to Urdukas, o/n in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-17-PAIYU: Trek to Paiyu, o/n in tents. (B/L/D).
DAY-18-JHOLA: Trek to Jhola, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-19-KOROFONG: Trek to Korofong, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-20-ASKOLE: Trek to Askole village, o/n in tents (B/L/D).
DAY-21-SKARDU: Jeep drive to Skardu, o/n in hotel (B/L/D).
DAY-22-CHILAS: Drive to Chilas, o/n in hotel (B/L/D).
DAY-23-ISLAMABAD: Drive to Islamabad, o/n in hotel. (B/L).
DAY-24-ISLAMABAD: After breakfast in hotel we will visit the Ministry of Tourism/Alpine Club of Pakistan for De-briefing (Send-Off Meeting). After de-briefing free for city tour and o/n in hotel (B).
DAY-25-DEPARTURE: Transfer to Islamabad Airport for fly back to your destination and end of our services.
